Identity Crimes

Identity crimes occur when someone takes your personally identifiable information such as your name, Social Security Number, date of birth, your mother’s maiden name, or your address to use it, without your knowledge or permission, for their personal financial gain. Identity fraud occurs when individuals knowingly and without lawful authority produce an identification document, or a false identification document with the intent to defraud others by improperly obtaining, possessing, using, or transferring means of identification or financial information of an individual person.

In our society where we are becoming increasingly dependent on technology, identity crimes are becoming a greater focus for both state and federal governments. Therefore, such crimes are treated by the State as very serious and it is essential to have legal representation in such matters.
